Alaska Travel and Transportation

The Denali National Park is located about 240 miles north of Anchorage and 120 mile south of Fairbanks on the George Parks Highway.
Multiple transportation options are available from both cities; no Alaska vacation would be complete without a trip to Denali National Park.
Wild and primitive, Denali National Park encompasses
about 9500 square miles (approximately 6 million acres). Though it
derives its name from the native name for the tallest mountain in North
America, Mount McKinley (Denali - "the high one"), it also includes Mt.
Foraker at 17,400 feet and Mt. Silverthrone at 13,220 feet.
Many glaciers originate on the slope of the Alaska range, Muldrow being
one of the largest, reaches close to the park road and is visible from
several locations. Glaciers are a major landscape in Alaska and
are quite a sight to see.
Some 175 species of birds and 40 species of animals call Denali National
Park home. Grizzly Bear, Moose, Timber Wolves, Dall Sheep and Caribou
are seen frequently on our park bus as it takes you deep into the park.
With all this wildlife waiting for you, we recommend taking a camera
with plenty of batteries and storage.
Camping in Denali National Park is also popular.
Many choices of campgrounds or more remote wilderness areas perfect for
the adventurous backpacker looking to get away from it all.
